The 26th Edition of the Afrika Festival Tübingen marks a new beginning — a rebirth centered on FAMILY, community, culture, and reconnection.
For the 2026 edition, AfrikAktiv e.V. will introduce an expanded Festival Family Village Arena of approximately 5,000 square meters, specially dedicated to children, youth, parents, elders, and grandparents with interactive activities designed to help families have fun, learn, share experiences, and connect across generations.
Since the festival relocated from Reutlingen to Tübingen’s FESTPLATZ in 2010, the Family Program has always been one of the festival’s greatest highlights. Families from different cultures, backgrounds, and generations gathered together through music, storytelling, workshops, games, dance, education, food, and cultural exchange.
However, after COVID, the world changed — and communities changed with it. Many families became more disconnected, isolated, and overwhelmed by modern challenges. The 2026 edition therefore represents a rebirth and intentional return to one of the strongest foundations of African culture: FAMILY.
The new Festival Family Village will create safe and inspiring spaces for families
AfrikAktiv believes that strong families build strong communities, and strong communities build a stronger Africa and Diaspora.
