Women and Family

We create safe and inspiring spaces for women, mothers, youth, and families through mentorship, networking, counseling initiatives, and community programs that encourage personal growth and cultural identity

Established in 2007, the Afrika Festival Tübingen has grown into one of Germany’s long-standing African Diaspora cultural platforms, successfully hosting 25 festival editions dedicated to culture, education, entrepreneurship, networking, and international exchange.

Over the years, the festival has become more than an entertainment event — it is a living economic and social ecosystem that has created opportunities for thousands of people across Africa, Germany, and the Diaspora.

Through this platform, we have:

  • Created thousands of temporary and long-term job opportunities
  • Supported artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and small businesses
  • Paid performance fees to thousands of musicians, dancers, cultural groups, speakers, and entertainers
  • Trained and mentored thousands of volunteers, youth participants, and internship students
  • Provided practical work experience in event management, media, hospitality, cultural education, communication, and community leadership
  • Connected German and African institutions, companies, organizations, and individuals for collaborations, partnerships, trade, education, and cultural exchange
  • Promoted African entrepreneurship, tourism, food culture, fashion, arts, and creative industries
  • Built bridges between communities through intercultural dialogue and people-to-people engagement

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival welcomed between 10,000 and 15,000 visitors annually. Despite the global impact of the pandemic, the platform continues to attract more than 4,000 visitors, demonstrating the resilience, relevance, and strong community connection of the festival.

The festival has also served as a launchpad for many careers and entrepreneurial journeys. Many former volunteers, artists, students, and collaborators have gone on to build businesses, professional careers, creative projects, NGOs, and international networks inspired by their involvement with the festival.

Today, the festival continues to evolve as a platform for:

  • Entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Youth and women empowerment
  • African cultural education
  • Diaspora engagement
  • Tourism and creative economy development
  • International networking and partnerships
  • Sustainable community-driven impact

For nearly two decades, the festival has stood as proof that culture is not only entertainment — culture creates jobs, strengthens communities, drives economic activity, and builds lasting human connections.

Afrika Festival Tübingen is where culture meets opportunity, entrepreneurship, and community transformation.
