AfrikAktiv e.V. Germany proudly announces the 26th Edition of the Afrika Festival Tübingen, scheduled to take place from August 06 – 09, 2026 at its traditional venue in Tübingen – Germany’s renowned University Town.

The 2026 edition marks a new era and transformation for AfrikAktiv — evolving from being only a festival organizer into a global platform for Africa and its Diaspora, connecting African communities worldwide with the continent through culture, dialogue, entrepreneurship, education, and shared cultural identity.

While previous editions primarily focused on the African community and lovers of African culture, the 2026 concept introduces a broader and deeper vision centered on the African Descendants Community in Germany and beyond. The festival aims to create a space for reconnection, remembrance, healing, identity, and unity among people of African descent whose histories are linked to the transatlantic slave trade, colonial displacement, and migration, but who still spiritually, culturally, and historically relate to Africa as their ancestral home.

Inspired by the words of renowned Pan-African scholar Professor James Small:

“We are Africans — not Africa-Americans, not Afro-Caribbeans, nor Afro-Germans, nor colored people. We are simply Africans who were enslaved and are today reconnecting back to our roots — back to the Motherland.”

The 26th Edition of the Afrika Festival Tübingen will therefore focus on building bridges between Africans on the continent, Africans in the Diaspora, and African descendants worldwide through meaningful cultural exchange, storytelling, education, entrepreneurship, spirituality, music, arts, and community dialogue.

Under this renewed vision, AfrikAktiv seeks to position the festival not only as a celebration, but also as a global movement for cultural reconnection, empowerment, identity, and the building of future generations rooted in African heritage and global solidarity.
